New year Sapanatirtha Mela

Sapanatirtha Temple is located in the northern part of Tokha village at Kathmandu. The local people (Newar) follow the Hindu religion and they worship this temple. The Newar  are strong believer at the God and Goddess and they perform different kinds of ritual activities in the day Baishak1st .They wake up early in the morning and go to the temple as fast as they can otherwise they have to be in line to worship the god. Two lines are made in order to worship the god that is one for male and next for female. There is a long line of female rather than male. The female comes to the temple with ritual things such as in some like ritual plate red tika, yellow tika, flowers, fruits, delicious prasad and other. Local students from different school come with Scout uniform for maintaining the line. Beside Newar, Thousands of people visits and worships this temple. In front of the temple there is a lake formed by two rivers. The worshipers either take bath or wash the face on the lake before worshiping the temple. It is believed that one who take bath in the lake of Sapanatirtha he/she will be fresh and fine and his/her disease will be cured. Many priest comes to the temple to provide special tika to the visitors.The worshiper come with their friends or family and bless each other for future goodwill.They also take the breakfast near the small shop.Small shops are made during this day to do business  and provide the breakfast to the visitor.During this day all the schools and colleges are closed.
